We are getting a Home

There is no place like home!

Over the past year, the Evolution Project has been operating out our our cubiles at AID Atlanta. We have also shared office spaces with community partners such as Youthpride. The program has operated nominally, but has had some success in reaching our community. For example, over the past year, we have reached our brothas who are in the "ballroom" scene providing intense interventions that help to build self-esteeme and mobilize that community. We also partnered (twice) with the folks from PHYRE to but on two amazing events. The first was in Feburary during Black History Month where we declared February Black Gay and Lesbian History Month. We showcased the power of our Blackness in such a way that the community rewarded us with acolades on blogs and in newspapers. Later during Black Gay Pride, The Evolution Project mobilized again to produce an fascinating evening celbreating the arts and contributions of Black Gay and Lesbian persons with a special emphasis on the education on HIV/AIDS. Having said that we managed to get all these things done without a permanent, consistent space. Fortunately for us, AID Atlanta has concluded that in order for us to be what we intend to be, the project needs to physically grow. It is for this reason that we are moving. (Clap Clap Clap).

That's rite, somewhere around October 15, 2007 we will have a permenant space dedicated to the needs of African American Men (us) in Metro Atlanta. Our space The Evolution Project, will be located in downtown Atlanta conveineitly accessible to Marta. The space will be used as a tool to mobilize us around the matters that are near and dear to us. It will be a safe space open to you to come hang out, meet, and grow. The space will offer workshops and fun activities for all to be involved. NOTE: It can only be successfull if you make it. If you have a skill or a passion that you want to showcase and add to our space please feel free to contact me while there are still slots available. In the coming weeks, I will post the address and some more information on our Grand Opening! Thank you AID Atlanta! See you at the grand opening!
